Sunderland City 10K

A stunning route and a fantastic atmosphere, Sunderland 10K run is a sought-after event that sell out each year.

Date: Sunday 7th May 2017

Part of the Run Sunderland Festival, the Sunderland City 10K is a gentle jog out which will take you past some of Sunderland’s most famous landmarks. Started in 2011, the run has grown year and year and is quickly becoming one of the most popular events in the city’s sporting calendar.

Setting off from the city centre, the course will take runners on a tour of Sunderland’s most famous landmarks. Within the first 2km runners approach the imposing Monkwearmouth Bridge which will take then down onto the waterfront. After a jog through the university campus, competitors will past the infamous National Glass centre before making their way to the Sunderland marina and here they will meet the half way point. A turn into the Dene will bring runners to the stunning Roker Park. A final loop round he park brings you out to the final stretch, a lovely 2km flat approach back into sight of the Monkwearmouth bridge and the all important finish line.

In 2015 organisers moved the start and finish lines into Keel Square, a symbol of Sunderland’s renewal and regeneration. This is just one aspect in which the run caters to all your needs, organisation is geared to make the run as enjoyable as possible for all runners and spectators. Free Parking is available on the day, on the University campus, though this is limited. There are also baggage services and ongoing events throughout the day for spectators, keeping up the fun for all the family.

This 10km run is a fantastic opening run, which is sure to kick-start any runners ambitions or just be a good way to get fit and active whilst also raising money for St Oswald's. We will be on hand for all your fundraising needs, whether that be for collection buckets, some snazzy posters or just a general chit chat, we are here to help. For Bronze challenges we ask you set a fundraising target of £100. All your generous donations will be put towards helping our patients and their families from across the North East.
