Health conscious staff and members at a Newcastle gym put down the weights and picked up the cakes in support of St Oswald’s last month.
Pure Gym based at Quorum Business Park in Longbenton, Newcastle signed up to take part in our Big Birthday Bake, in celebration of our 30th Anniversary this year. Staff baked a range of sweet treats, from healthy protein bars to more indulgent delights such as scones, cheese cakes and biscuits and tempted their customers throughout the day on Friday 27th May.
The event was organised by Pure Gym Quorum Park General Manager Claire Robinson and Assistant General Manager Liam Thirtle. Liam said:
“St Oswald’s is such a good cause, and we thought it would be a novel idea for a gym to be involved in a Big Bake! The whole team got involved and made a huge amount of goodies, and we put together a hamper of health products which we raffled off to customers.
“We also held themed classes through the day, such as Disney and UV Rave, charging £1 per class. Staff got involved and dressed up for the occasion and all of our customers really got into the spirit of it. It was great fun!”
The Pure Gym Big Bake raised a total of £416.59 for St Oswald’s, and our fundraiser Natalie Santamera popped into the gym to collect the donations and thank the team. She said:
“We are overwhelmed by the success of Pure Gym’s Big Bake! It sounds like they had lots of fun and we really appreciate their support. It’s lovely to see so many of our supporters holding these baking events to help us celebrate our 30th anniversary. Just goes to show, no matter how dedicated you are to health and fitness, there is always room for some cake! Thank you to everyone who supported this event and all of the other Big Bakes happening around the region.”
