Life List awards celebrates our fundraising superstars!

We said a huge thank you to some of our incredible supporters at our Life List Awards, on Tuesday 26th January.

Supporters were invited to the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, Newcastle Airport, to a ceremony hosted by our Chaplain, Davina Radford.

After thanking everyone for their incredible efforts and achievements, in aid of the hospice, Davina presented attendees with their hard earned certificates and medals. Challenges completed included the London marathon, Hadrian’s Wall Challenge, Bungee Jump and the Mont Blanc Ultra Marathon. Trophies were also awarded to two special fundraisers.

Paul Donaghy, from Durham was presented with the ‘Most Innovative Fundraiser’ award, for his record breaking Great North Gallop Challenge, involving 63 supporters dresses as pantomime animals, completing a furlong of Newcastle Racecourse. Paul raised over £6,000 for St Oswald’s. Abbie Read from Ashington received Young Fundraiser of the Year for completing a skydive aged just 16. Abbie’s older sister Natalie uses St Oswald’s services, as she was diagnosed with brain cancer last year.

The Life List comprises of a range of sponsored challenges, big and small, which people can sign up to, while raising money in aid of St Oswald’s. The Life List was launched in 2013, but has grown from just a few challenges to a list of over 50 adventures. Although supporters are free to raise money by undertaking whatever is on their own Life List, we have put together experiences from the iconic to the unusual, which can be mixed and matched to achieve a bronze, silver or gold life list award, as well as the brand new platinum award. Also new for 2016 is a ‘Children’s Challenges Life List’ designed for under 16’s to get involved too!

A huge well done and thank you to everyone who has took part in the Life List for us in 2015 – you are all amazing!
