Our specialist Lymphoedema Service is the largest in the North East and we’re currently on the lookout for more volunteers to join the team. Molly Clark from Whitley Bay started volunteering in July and here she tells us more about her experience so far:
“My mum has worked at the Hospice for over 25 years and is now the Matron for Day Services. I’ve been visiting the Hospice since I was a baby so know some of the staff and over the years I’ve learnt lots about St Oswald’s, the Values, the service and Lymphoedema itself. I’m also aware of the impact the condition has on patients’ lives and how important the service provided by the Hospice is to improve their quality of life, which is why I decided to become a volunteer.
“During lockdown I completed my teacher training and since finishing my PGCE qualification I had some spare time on my hands. I thought that helping out at the Hospice would be a good use of time and a great learning opportunity. I’m due to start a new job as a science teacher very soon but will continue to volunteer in the school holidays.
