Team Oldham's year of fundraising for Doris

The care Doris received inspired the Oldham family to put their fitness to the test with a range of sponsored activities to raise funds for the hospice.

Connie said:

“Doris is the inspiration behind Team Oldham and after she was cared for so beautifully at the St Oswald’s, we wanted to give something back. Her time at the hospice was difficult as Covid restrictions meant that the family were unable to visit her. We knew she was in good hands, but it was so hard not being with her.

“Marisa, one of the hospice social workers, helped us to set up a video call to feel closer to Doris, and when she was very near to the end of her life, we were allowed in to say goodbye. Although a very sad time for us all, we felt blessed to have had that time with her, as we know many other families were unable to. We sat with her and the staff looked after us with endless cuppas, they were just brilliant.”
