It’s been all go in our Children and Young Adults Service this summer, with two events that have brought everyone together.
In July, the children were invited to a fabulous Fun Day, provided by Together for Short Lives who came along to the event. Children came with their parents, carers and siblings. There was face painting, a bouncy castle, ice creams, a pizza van and lots of arts and crafts.
Sophia Welsh came with her Mum, Megan and they had a great time:
“Sophia loved having me there and it was fantastic to be with her in the hospice – it’s her happy place. We loved joining in with the stories from Seven Stories and all the sensory activities. Sophia had her face painted and really enjoyed the bouncy castle.”
Our young adults love to party and had a fantastic summer too with the return of Ozzy Fest which was music to their ears!
Our Ozzy Fest took place in the Young Adults garden and lounge. Activities Co-ordinator, Kerry Turnbull, said,
“It was a really good turn out and we had a lovely, sunny, chilled day. The staff all worked so hard to make sure the young adults and their families had the best time – and they really did!”
There was live music from Faye Shearer, Afnan Prince and Simma which had people dancing and smiling – Edward loved it and was banging his hands to the beat.
The young adults were adorned with face paint and festival glitter which proved popular along with the selfie mirror. The catering team lit up the bbq and provided a festival feast with cakes. There was even a VW Bar with cocktails and mocktails.
Everyone had a great day and young adult, Ewan, said
“It was even better than the last one!”
