We asked him:
Why did you decide to become a Trustee at St Oswald’s Hospice?
The Hospice has a personal connection for me because of the support given to my lifelong family friend, Richard. The Hospice supported Richard and his family when he was being cared for and died at age 50 with a brain tumour. The care Richard and his family received made such a difference to them at a very sad and difficult time.
How long have you been a trustee at St Oswald’s Hospice?
I have been a Trustee since 2019. I sit on the Board and also the Clinical Government and Quality Committee which reviews care standards at the Hospice.
What’s involved in your role as a Trustee?
Being a Trustee is a volunteer position and gives me an opportunity to use my experience in the NHS as a GP to help and support the wonderful care that is available from St Oswald’s Hospice.
Thank you to Neil for your commitment, direction and advice.
