Jesmond Pool were the original beneficiaries, with St Oswald’s Hospice benefitting in recent years. This year, the organisers chose to share the proceeds of the two concerts in the ‘Music for the Pool’ series between the two charities.
The events took place on Friday 10th and Saturday 18th of May at Jesmond United Reform Church. Both concerts were well attended and received, with £300 being raised towards the work of the hospice.
Les Hodgson, one of the organisers of the concerts said:
“It would be remiss of me not to thank the many people involved in this year’s events. The continued support of Jesmond United Reform Church with the free use of its superb performance space, has been fundamental to the series’ success for many years. Thanks to the performers, Dark Sky Voices and their Musical Director Fiona Lander, to Bonnie Brinn, John McCauley, Jane Jackson, Rita Fallon, and Kevyn Gill. Special thanks to my good friend Len Young, whose continued positivity, enthusiasm and pianistic skills have been a constant over so many years.
I must also thank Donna Rumney and Kieron from Jesmond Pool, and Emily Corney and her team from St Oswald’s Hospice for their support in promoting the concerts.”
Thank you to all involved in making these events happen, in support of our patients and families.
