The "Durham Dander" raises £1,754 for St Oswald’s Hospice

Thirty regulars at The Three Horseshoes, Leamside, Houghton-le-Spring raised funds for St Oswald’s Hospice as their chosen charity for their 2024 sponsored walk.

Amy Hardman, Manager, pictured centre with the banner said:

“We have been organising sponsored charity walks since 2019 (except during Covid) and raised close on £10,000 for different charities. This year I choose St Oswald’s Hospice because it was a local charitable cause, and discovered it was also close to one of our regulars hearts, Tracey Murley (pictured far left) after they looked after a relative of hers.

“We wanted to walk somewhere more scenic this year and our lovely regular Tom Robson came up with the 11-mile Durham Dander!  We started off at the Three Horseshoes and following Tom’s hand drawn map we went across the footbridge to Finchale Priory and then passing Frankland Prison made our way to the front of Durham Cathedral through the Market Place and down to the river where we followed the route onto the path alongside the A690 where we picked up the track to Pithouse Lane leading us back to the Three Horseshoes.

“The group of thirty who took part are all over-the-moon to have raised £1,754 for St Oswald’s Hospice. Thank you to everyone who took part and sponsored us.”
