A special makeover in memory of Eve

Kris Straker is the cousin of fondly remembered Eve Anderson who visited our Children’s and Young Adults services for 12 years before her death with us in August 2023.

Kris decided that he wanted to do something in memory of his cousin Eve and give back to the charities who supported both Eve and the family.

He decided to grow his hair for two years ready to shave it all off!

Kris pledged to do this to attract sponsors in support of his two chosen charities, St Oswald’s Hospice and Children’s Cancer North.

Kris raised an incredible £1,545 which was split between the two charities, and came to visit us on Monday to hand over the cheque for £742.03 to community fundraiser Karen. This money is donated in memory of Eve, but also to give thanks for the love and support Eve and dad Ian received over the years with us.

You may remember Eve and Ian from our exhibition in the summer, as a portrait of Eve was included in our Portraits with Purpose: Continuing Bonds project, undertaken by local artist Laura Pearce.

We give our thanks to Kris for remembering Eve and raising funds to support our patients and their families.
