Christmas Tree-cycle

Our Christmas Tree-cycle is back for the 6th year running!

Christmas Tree-cycle bookings are now open!

St Oswald’s Hospice will save you the hassle of a trip to the tip by collecting your Christmas tree from your doorstep and recycling it.

Last year, thanks to your generosity we raised £61,206 by collecting over 4000 trees. That tree-mendous amount is enough to fund 2,448 hours of nursing care—thank you!

Don’t wait— our collection slots have been fully booked the last few years. Fill out the form below to secure your collection for 2025.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your tree will be collected anytime between Friday 3rd January and Saturday 25th January 2025 so please make sure it’s ready for collection and in the position you specified on your booking form.

If you selected on your booking form that you are waiting until after Twelfth Night for your tree collection, our team will be with you between Monday 6th January and Saturday 25th January 2025.

Whether you opt for a collection before or after 12th night, your tree may not be collected until the final date of Saturday 25th January 2025, so please do not contact us before this time as we will most likely still be working our way towards your address.

Unfortunately not. We keep our orders open for as long as possible to ensure we raise as much money for St Oswald’s Hospice. Our orders don’t all come through at the same time, so sometimes vans will be in the same area multiple times and we can’t provide specific date or time slots as there are many factors we need to consider when organising van routes.

Ensure your tree is stripped of all decorations and any pots they stand in and placed in the location you specified on your collection form.

No, leave all branches in tact and make sure you haven’t pulled branches off the tree. This is for recycling purposes.

Your tree should be no bigger than 8ft.

Yes. All baubles, tinsels and decorations need to be taken off your tree pre-collection and removed from any pots they stand in.

Whilst all efforts will be made to collect your tree, safety of our staff and volunteers is paramount and in extreme and rare circumstances we would either have to re-arrange or cancel your collection. Any new collection may fall after Saturday 25th January 2025 and a full refund would be given if a cancellation was necessary.

Yes. Please specify on the booking form whether you would like to wait until after Twelfth Night for your tree to be collected. If you choose this option your tree will be collected anytime between Monday 6th January and Saturday 25th January 2025.

We take all collected trees to local recycling centres. From here they are then turned into mulch/chippings which will be used for landscaping, play parks etc.

This year, we’ve raised the recommended donation for our Tree-cycle campaign from £10 to £15.

As you can imagine, the costs of keeping our vans running smoothly – fuel, maintenance, and staff wages – have increased. Plus, with more and more people using our service each year (we collected an impressive 4,000 trees in 2024!), we want to ensure our collection team operates as efficiently as possible when collecting all your trees.

Your generous donation helps us offset these costs but, more importantly, ensures that as much money as possible goes towards supporting our patients and their families.

We understand that everyone is facing rising costs due to the current cost of living crisis. That’s why £15 is simply a recommended donation, and we want Tree-cycle to remain accessible to everyone. Any contribution, no matter how big or small, is truly appreciated.

Thank you for your support!

Yes! For the past few years, our collection slots have been fully booked within the first few days of January. We recommend booking your collection as soon as possible to secure your slot for 2025.

Please email trees@stoswaldsuk.org and a member of the team will get back to you.
