Meet Tracey
Tracey joined the Sunderland Shop as a Retail Volunteer in January of this year after retiring from a 35 year long career in nursing.
She knew the shop were in need of volunteers so popped along one day to ask Manager, Charlie and Assistant Manager, Lorna if she could sign up!
Six months on, Tracey loves how versatile the role is, as in any one day she could be serving customers on the till, sorting through donations or hanging stock.
“The role is really varied and different each day which is why I enjoy it. Volunteering in the shop is totally different to being a nurse. I’ve now gained till skills and retail experience.
“Volunteering fills two days of my week and the donations are wonderful, the prices are fair and it’s a happy environment to work in!”
It’s not just the retail environment that Tracey enjoys but the community element too:
“We’ve got a great staff team. The Managers, Charlie and Lorna are lovely girls, the volunteers are all very nice and supportive, and we’re all a happy family! I love it.”
