St Oswald’s Hospice appear in the special edition as one of the Community Chest spaces, while the Tyne Bridge has landed on the top £400 ‘Mayfair’ square.
When it was announced earlier this year that Newcastle and Gateshead are getting a brand new 2024 version of MONOPOLY, the public was invited to send in suggestions for landmarks and organisations to feature.
The special edition features the great and good of Newcastle and Gateshead including the home of Newcastle United, St James’ Park, The Utilita Arena, The Glasshouse, Grey’s Monument, the Bigg Market and more.
We sit along with several other charities including The Alan Shearer Foundation and Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter.
In addition to the bespoke squares, the Chance and Community Chest cards are customised too. One card fines players for speeding on Cowgate’s busy Ponteland Road, for example!
Steph Edusei, Chief Executive at St Oswald’s Hospice, said:
“We’re thrilled to be part of this special regional edition of MONOPOLY alongside iconic organisations and landmarks in Newcastle and Gateshead.
“As a hospice, we deliver expert, dignified and compassionate care to patients and families across the region, and so we are humbled to have been included because of a public vote.
“To be featured as the Community Chest space feels particularly appropriate given the services we deliver to and within the local community, who in turn support us with some incredible fundraising activities.
“We’re sure everyone will have a great time playing this edition of such a celebrated and much-loved board game.”
The MONOPOLY: Newcastle & Gateshead Edition is available to purchase at Waterstones and WHSmith – as well as extensively online, including at Booghe.co.uk and Amazon.co.uk.
That’s Christmas sorted!
