This year members of Weight Watchers North East have been an amazing support to St Oswald's having been involved in a number of fundraising and volunteering activities, from providing goodie bags for our Lantern Walk in the Summer, a ‘healthy’ bake sale in the Autumn, stalls at our Christmas Market and Great North Snowdogs Farewell event this Winter, and collection cans at meetings throughout the year.
In total Weight Watchers have raised just over £2,000 for the Hospice which will help us to continue to provide care to local people and their families. Each year we need to raise over £7 million to continue our work, and with the amazing support of local groups such as Weight Watchers, we are able to do this.
Julie Watson, Weight Watchers Diamond Leader, Area 51, said:
A lot of our members as well as myself have personal connections to St Oswald's Hospice, so we like to support in any way we can as it’s such a great local charity.
“We raised over £1,200 from our Healthy Bake Sale earlier this year and the atmosphere was amazing, the support we got from the local community was great, so thank you everyone who supported us.
“We look forward to working with the St Oswald's team more in the New Year.”
Siobhan Sargeant, Corporate Fundraiser at St Oswald's said:
“It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with the Weight Watchers team throughout 2016. They have been an integral part of many events and raised a substantial amount of money to help us care for local people and their families.
“We are looking forward to big things in 2017 including a Weight Watchers Bag It across local groups and a very special shop take over day… watch this space. Thank you Weight Watchers for your continued support.”
