St Oswald’s very own Sophie Adamson, Shop Manager at Re-Styled by St Oswald’s, is fast becoming a TV regular after bagging a second appearance on shopping channel, Hochanda (Home of Crafts, Hobbies & Arts), this time broadcasting internationally to the Netherlands!
After impressing with her first appearance and being described by the programme’s presenter as a ‘complete natural’, Sophie was invited back by the broadcasters at Hochanda and Everlong, the paint company who supply products to St Oswald’s Re-styled shop.
On Monday (24th July) the 29 year old made her second appearance by co-presenting the 7am-8am slot and offering viewers from across the globe a live design demonstration with expert advice. You can watch the programme in full on the Hochanda website.
Sophie told us:
I really enjoyed my first appearance on Hochanda and was thrilled to be invited back for a second time. Although initially I was nervous, especially knowing people from overseas would be tuning in, once the cameras started rolling and I became immersed with the painting, I soon forgot about the fact people from across the world would be sat watching at home! The reaction to my first appearance has been really positive and I’ve had a number of customers who’ve come into the shop mention that they’ve seen me on TV and wanted to know all about the experience.
Just before I was due to go on air I bumped into a lady backstage who lived in Newcastle and who recognised me from managing the Re-styled shop – chatting to her put me at ease and made me realise how important our slot on Hochanda was at raising St Oswald’s profile. Once I’d relaxed into the show I had huge fun with the presenter and I enjoyed demonstrating how versatile the products are by painting a selection of items including a school chair and a lamp and by painting over various materials such as metal and wood.
Inspired by her TV demonstrations, Sophie, together with her assistant manager Sarah Finnemore, has devised a series of beginner-friendly interactive workshops so customers and art enthusiasts from across the region and beyond can benefit from Sophie and Sarah’s expertise.
Held in-store throughout the rest of the year, a variety of competitively priced workshops are being organised to offer handy hints and tips to craft lovers who wish to take their art appreciation to the next level. Anybody who attends a workshop can also claim a special discount voucher to be used on the upcycled furniture.
So if you want to join our #northeastupcyclers community by turning your hand to all things arts and crafts related whilst receiving specialist coaching from Sophie and Sarah, book now to avoid disappointment and secure yourself one of the limited places. Who knows, you might even end up on TV yourself one day!
