Sitel, a global customer experience Management Company with an office based in Newcastle, has entered a team of four into the Great North Run supporting St Oswald’s Hospice. We caught up with a few of the runners to see how things were going.
Liam Vance, 34, Team Manager said:
Luckily I’ve done it before so know what I’m getting in to, but I haven’t actually done much training this year. I have been running but not enough to try to beat my previous time. It’s been good to sign us as a team though.
I’ve supported the Hospice before through the Snowdogs trail and I’m really excited to take my 2 year old round the Elmer’s Great North Parade trail. I know it will be the middle of the trail when we do the Great North run which will be exciting.
Colin White, 30, Sales Advisor added:
It’s my first time doing the Great North Run, I haven’t done any road running for training but I’ve been playing lots of football and going on the treadmill. I’m really nervous but it should be a good day. I do think I will be gutted when someone runs past me in fancy dress! I signed up a year ago for a laugh and now can’t believe it’s only a few weeks away, I’ve set up my JustGiving page and will be sending it round the company and to my friends and family too. We’re not racing each other on the day but we did say whoever gets the worst time has to buy the rest of us a meal, which I think is fair, it has to be a little competitive.
Adam Mottershead, 24, Operations Manager said:
I always wanted to do the Great North Run but I’ve never signed up before. As we’ve worked with St Oswald’s, our Charity Champions, Rob Brown and Heather Maddocks received an email with some discounted spaces for us, I thought if I don’t sign up now I never will.
St Oswald’s is a charity close to me. My grandad spent his last few days in there two years ago and the staff were lovely to him and the family. This is my way of giving something back. We do charity days every Friday where we raise money through different ways for our chosen charity, we change our charity every 6 months to make it fair and raised over £11,000 for St Oswald’s before.
