“When I saw the May 5K challenge, I knew I had to get the club involved. We are a very tight knit group and everyone knows how close to my heart the hospice is, after the care Mum received last year.

Mum went in for respite care initially. It was during lockdown last year, and I was just blown away by the incredible care she received. She was treated like a queen, pampered with hair and nail treatments, enjoyed time in the jacuzzi bath and was just made to feel very special. Mum loved being the centre of attention, so she was in her element. The staff couldn’t have done more for her. My brother, dad and I were so grateful that she was being looked after so well. It was a huge weight off our minds at a difficult time. Knowing she was getting so much love and attention when we were unable to be there all the time meant so much to us all. I just knew I wanted to give something back.”
