The campaign aims to raise awareness about the vital role hospices play in communities and to shift public perceptions of hospice care. The campaign, launching this Monday 17th February aims to capture hearts and minds through a powerful TV advert based on real life hospice stories. The goal is to encourage people to consider leaving a gift in their will to support their local hospice, ensuring that these essential services can continue to provide their compassionate and specialist care for future generations.

Steph Edusei, Chief Executive of St Oswald’s Hospice said
“We’re thrilled to be part of this important campaign that not only highlights the critical work we do as a charitable hospice, but also the lasting impact that gifts in Wills can have on our ability to continue providing care here in the North East of England.
“For St Oswald’s Hospice, legacy giving has made a significant difference. So far this financial year, gifts left in supporter’s Wills have raised close to £2,000,000, funding hospice running costs for one full day per week. This equates to 71,400 hours of nursing care for an adult or child receiving care at the hospice.”
Through its involvement in the Hospice UK campaign, we hope to encourage our community of supporters to consider the profound impact that a gift in their will can have.
“After supporting St Oswald’s Hospice ever since my Dad passed away in 1988, Mam was admitted for end of life care herself, on on 11th May 2021, during a short battle with cancer. It was one of her wishes to spend her final days there.
“From walking through the door the first time, meeting the receptionist, bumping into the tea lady and being introduced to the doctors and nurses, the care and reassurance from everyone I met made me feel a strange calmness. Seeing my mother happy in her final days, knowing she was at the hospice meant the world to us and more importantly, to her.
“Mam chose to leave a sum of money in her Will to the hospice. I have now followed in her footsteps and added St Oswald’s Hospice to my own Will, in her memory and to say thank you to the team for the love, care and comfort we received. Hopefully our gifts, will support other families at the most difficult times of their lives.”
