Bereavement Support

We offer Bereavement Support to adults and children after the death of a loved one.

Our bereavement care is delivered by specially trained support workers and volunteers and is available whether or not a loved one received care from the Hospice.

We aim to help those left behind cope and adapt to their loss.

We can provide:

• Individual 1:1 support at the Hospice or over the phone
• Group sessions to meet and share with others who are in a similar situation
• A annual programme of remembrance services and events

If you are struggling with grief, please contact Brenda from St Oswald’s Hospice Bereavement Support Team on 0191 285 0063 ext 2008 or email BrendaClayton@stoswaldsuk.org

Grief is unique but you are not alone.

Our bereavement support team holds a fortnightly drop-in café which is open to anyone grieving.

You can meet others in a similar situation, talk about your loved one and share how you are feeling over a cuppa and a biscuit.

Our next drop-in cafés will take place 10am-12pm at St Oswald’s Hospice in Gosforth on:

  • Monday 1st July | Monday 15th July | Monday 29th July
  • Monday 12th August | Monday 26th August

Light up a Life: A place to remember

Light up a Life: A place to remember is somewhere where you can create a personal online tribute to keep a loved one close at heart all year long. Share favourite memories, treasured photos and keep their light shining brightly by inviting family, friends and colleagues to add to their personal tribute page. You don’t need a connection to St Oswald’s Hospice to set up a page, everyone is welcome to remember a loved one in this special way. It’s your page to add to however you like.
